In light of the tragedy unfolding in Afghanistan, we wanted to find a way to support the Afghan people. Our friends and family there have reported that there is great sadness and a loss of hope amongst the people. Many choose to stay in Kabul to try and maintain their livelihoods and support their families yet are left to endure the ensuing hardships of the Taliban rule.

Thus, we are bringing back this special collaboration from a few years ago. Heliotrope and Zarif Design created this collection of beautiful scarves. These soft, fluttering silk twill scarves were handwoven and dyed in Kabul, then brought to our Brooklyn studio where they were screenprinted with our geometric logo motif designed by Swoon. We dug into our archive and found a small stock of these and are available in 3 colors while supplies last. All proceeds will be donated to Afghan artisans in Kabul to help them support their families.

Zarif Design is an Afghan fashion brand established in 2005 with the vision of using fashion as an intermediary to connect and empower communities of weavers, tailors & embroiderers with a common vision of reviving tradition & shaping the future. The primary aim of the project is to empower the local communities in Kabul economically, socially and strengthen their innate skills in craftsmanship. Zarif sources traditional fabrics from Afghanistan and Central Asia, regions along the former, historic “Silk Road.“ They embrace the tenets of the Slow Fashion movement, while fostering fair-trade practices and the use of natural materials.
