Nelson Makamo is a Johannesburg based artist, hailing from the town of Modimolle in South Africa's Limpopo province. Working mainly in the mediums of charcoal, acrylic, watercolors, mono-types, silk screen and oil paintings, Nelson's work is strongly influenced by the candid innocence of children. He is particularly drawn to children in rural South Africa, as he believes that they embody the peace, harmony & eternal joy we all strive for in life. Nelson exhibits his world globally. His most iconic commission was the cover image for TIME magazine’s February 2019 issue.
